Cotopaxi Volcano, located in central Ecuador, is one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, with an altitude of 5,897 meters. It is famous for its perfect conical shape and snow-capped summit, attracting both experienced mountaineers and visitors who wish to admire its stunning natural beauty. Located within the Cotopaxi National Park, the area offers a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna, as well as ample opportunities for hiking, cycling and nature watching. Cotopaxi has a deep cultural and historical significance for Ecuadorians, being revered by indigenous communities and representing an icon of the country's natural landscape.
Day 1
- Departure 11:00 a.m. Quito.
- Travel by the Panamerican Highway south towards Cotopaxi National Park.
- Arrival to José Ribas Refuge
- Rest and dinner. Start the activity at11:00 pm.
- Explanation by the guide for climbing. 6 hours approx.
Day 2
- Get the summit to 5.897 meters.
- Time for photos and videos.
- Back to the refuge (José Ribas), 3 hours approx.
- Breakfast.
- Return to Quito.
